PORTRAITS OF CHANGE
Stories and Faces of Menopause
In cooperation with the local production of The Menopause Monologues at Town Hall Theatre in Lafayette, I created a photographic interview project that captures the raw and powerful stories of women navigating menopause. Each portrait adds a visual layer to their personal journeys, offering a deeper connection to their reflections. Through a blend of conversation and documentary photography, these images help to bring their transformative experiences to life. This project celebrates both storytelling and the beauty of these women’s journeys, with the photographs serving as an important piece of the narrative.
It has been a deeply rewarding experience to use photography to give both imagery and voice to these stories. Sharing these visual narratives creates an impact on both the storyteller and the viewer, fostering connection, compassion, and healing.
Portraits of Change: Stories and Faces of Menopause was displayed in the theater lobby during The Menopause Monologues on October 18 and 19, 2024. Each photograph offered viewers the opportunity to connect with the powerful stories shared, visually complementing the conversations. To the left is my artist statement from the show, and below is each panel featuring the three women.
The premiere of The Menopause Monologues, with three sold-out shows, was a resounding success; produced by an immensely talented community and spearheaded by Carrie Vanhouten, Lisa Anne Morrison, and Lulu Braunstein.
